CURRICULUM THEME "AWESOME ANIMALS" LEARNING OBJECTIVES We will focus on Wildlife Animals around the World. Each week, we will study different types of animals and their habitats, where they live. The children will learn which animals live in groups or alone, what types of food the animals eat, and where the animals sleep
LEARNING GROUPS Starting in late November, we adjusted the learning groups to offer more time for the children to be with their age group and we can focus on Kindergarten Readiness for the children graduating in June 2020 and the other groups to build more peer relationships and focus on social and emotional development in a smaller group atmosphere.
SHOW & TELL THEMES Friday, December 6 – Toy Animal Friday December 13 – Winter Scarf, Hat, and/or Mittens for Winter Performance
SPECIAL EVENT Winter Performance & Potluck Celebration Friday, Dec 13 at 11:00AM-11:45AM The children will perform 2 holiday songs and Ying Li will lead a short Mandarin performance and then there will be a holiday potluck party. Families can sign up to bring food and drink items via our Shutterfly page under the Volunteer Section. Please arrive at 10:50AM. The performance will start at 11:00AM in the adjacent classroom. Bring your camera!
FIELD TRIP CuriOdyssey at Coyote Point Park in San Mateo Tuesday, Dec 17 9:15AM-12:00PM The children will have the opportunity to see all types of wildlife, snakes, coyotes, vultures, river otters, and bobcats. And inside, the children will explore hands-on exhibits and a Special Interactive Lights exhibit. Parents are welcome to drive their own child and join us at the museum. Footsteps vehicles have booster seats for the preschool students age 4+ to use. If you child is under 4 years old, please bring a car seat for your child or you can choose to drive your own child to and from the field trip. Please fill out the permission slip and check if you are planning on attending as a chaperone.
STAFF HIGHLIGHTS
By the end of December, Teacher Dany is being promoted from a Teacher in Training to a Fully Qualified Preschool Teacher. Congratulations to Dany for all his hard work and dedication.
Darlene had her baby boy on November 1! We are excite for her and her family. In January 2020, Darlene will be moved to our Shores Preschool to sub for Debbie, who worked at Cipriani Preschool last year. Debbie will be going to on Maturity Leave starting in January through June. Stephen is planning on continuing with Cipriani Preschool through the end of this school year.
REMINDERS
Now that we are in the winter months and we are in Flu season, please remind your child to bring a jacket or sweater and keep any child home that is under the weather with flu-like symptoms.
Please return any Raising a Reader (RAR) book bag or books. We are collecting all the RAR red book bags and will postpone the book bag circulation for the month of December. We will resume the book bags in January 2020. We encourage families to take their child to their local library for preschool story times and checking out books. Check your local libraries for events and activities for preschoolers.
