CURRICULUM THEME
"Wonder of the Winter Season!"

LEARNING OBJECTIVES
We will explore our five senses through science projects (comparing hot & cold), Winter themed art, math ABC & team activities. The children will explore animals that live in the cold climates and how animals prepare for winter. We will continue to emphasize the importance of problem solving through attainable tactics (e.g. stories, children solutions kits, and 1-3-5min hour glasses).

ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHTS
  • While eating family style meals, the children have practiced being independent by serving themselves and cleaning up their dishes.
  • Students practiced sharing tactics and patience while using the sand timers
  • The students continue to use their imagination and creativity during the pretend play dialogue, both indoors and outdoors.
  • The students were fascinated with using glue bottles and watching the glue drip onto construction paper.
  • The students have been working on their social skills, being a team player & working on their problem solving techniques during daily activities and routines.
FIELD TRIP
Nutcracker at Fox Theatre in Redwood City
Friday, December 6, 2019 from 10:00AM-12:00PM.
The children and teachers will walk to and from the Theatre.
STAFF HIGHLIGHTS
  • Ms. Stephany, Ms. Clara, Ms. Lourdes, Ms. Concepcion worked in small groups with the students on fine motor skills activities (open-ended art, cutting, name tracing).
  • All teachers have continuously worked with all students on PDA’s (Positive Descriptive Acknowledgement); teachers will point out (narrate aloud) children’s successful moments individually and/or to the group. We have started to write up the PDA’s and we transcribe the PDA onto post-it’s to resemble Pete The Cat’s buttons (displayed on wall by our playground double doors).  Simultaneously, we will phrase acknowledgement of the actions in connection to our rules or life skills being demonstrated. Our three main rules being practices with the children are, “We are Safe,” “We are Respectful,” and “We are Friendly.” Help us by implementing similar rules at home when possible.
SPECIALIST HIGHLIGHTS
  • Janette, Art Specialist on Mondays and Thursdays, children continue to enjoy cutting and pasting art projects.
  • Ying Li, Mandarin Specialist on Tuesdays and Thursdays, students attentively engage in practicing Mandarin songs.
  • Adrian, P.E. Specialist on Wednesdays, continue to practice crazy 8’s warm-up, eight laps around the world, and mosquito tag.
